Szell's recordings in 1968 of live performances of Beethoven's Symphonies Nos. 8 & 9 with the New Philharmonia were considered one of the sensations of the London Season, particularly since the soloists included Janet Baker. These recordings are very rare and only came via a private collector. The sound is spectacularly good.
