Thick as Thieves is a canadian folk trio, with members coming from Vancouver British Columbia, Edmonton Alberta, and Toronto Ontario. Their Rustic, "on the road" feel crosses genres like bluegrass and ragtime, as well as folk and blues. With songs telling tales of dirty highways and railroads, Thick as Thieves brings you into a world of life on the streets, and the unique people you might come across. Using traditional acoustic instruments including banjo, fiddle, baritone ukulele, and guitar, Thick as Thieves is sure to keep your feet stomping. With recent tours reaching from Halifax to Vancouver and the cd release of "The Dogs Have Fleas" in winter 08, Thick as Thieves has played stages all over Canada such as Blues on Whyte in Edmonton, Gus' Pub in Halifax, The Jimmy Jazz in Guelph, and many various venues. They were also featured on CBC Radio Thunder Bay as one of the best new and upcoming indie artists. Their first album "The Dogs Have Fleas" has an honest and storytelling theme to it - a tribute to their personal experiences, as well as social commentary on issues of poverty and the different ways that people choose to live. The music Thick as Thieves makes, seems to transcend every genre and appeals to everyone, no matter what their age and background. The album was recorded on a digital 8 track, all the editing and polishing was done by the band themselves, as well as the handcrafting of every album, screenprinting and all. The live performances that the engergetic trio put on are a mix of original music, traditional songs, and even traditional childrens songs, and have left bar rooms and coffee shops dancing from coast to coast. Thick as Thieves is now in the process of recording a new album, as well as starting their own record company, Raggidy Records, which aims to provide recording for down and out, yet talented musicians who otherwise couldn't afford the costly studio time.
