Count On Me
COUNT ON ME Count On Me is the new single from singer/songwriter Kathryn Keats and GRAMMY®-winning producer Narada Michael Walden (Whitney Houston, Stevie Wonder, Santana). A song of hope for anyone facing hard times, Count On Me was inspired by a friend’s personal tragedy. Keats wrote the song in collaboration with Walden, who produced it at his famed Tarpan Studios in Marin County, California. The single features Walden on keyboard, guitar and percussion, with Keats singing lead vocals. Background vocals are by Sakai Smith (Train), Nikita Germaine (Train), Claytoven Richardson (George Benson, Elton John), Jeanie Tracy (Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey). Engineered by Jim Reitzel (Santana, Dionne Warwick, Buddy Guy). KATHRYN KEATS Kathryn Keats is a pop/jazz/blues singer/songwriter whose music challenges and inspires. With a background in musical theatre, Keats was forced into hiding for 20 years, after fleeing an abusive relationship that nearly cost her life. Following the death of her former abuser, Keats regained her self-confidence and decided to re-launch her musical career in the San Francisco Bay Area. She has collaborated with Pete Sears of Jefferson Starship and Hot Tuna, GRAMMY-nominated bassist Michael Manring, acclaimed Brazilian drummer Celso Alberti and others, including GRAMMY-winning producer Narada Michael Walden. She has performed at many well-known venues, including Yoshi’s Jazz Club in Oakland, the Knitting Factory in Los Angeles, The Mint in Los Angeles, the Bitter End in New York and the Throckmorton Theatre in Mill Valley, California. NARADA MICHAEL WALDEN Among a handful of the most innovative, original and influential artists of our time, Narada Michael Walden’s stature as an authentic musical renaissance man is a matter of record. He has produced hits for artists as diverse as Aretha Franklin (including the platinum “Freeway of Love”), Steve Winwood, Ray Charles, Wynonna Judd, Whitney Houston, George Michael, Mariah Carey, Barbra Streisand, Lionel Ritchie, Lisa Fischer, Stevie Wonder, Tom Jones, Jeff Beck and The Temptations. Walden’s music flows freely from pop, rock and soul, to the rarified realms of jazz, fusion and world music. With legendary guitarist Jeff Beck, Walden wrote and played drums on the seminal album “Wired” that earned them both their first Gold Album. Walden was an integral part of introducing Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey to millions of fans worldwide, producing and writing their breakthrough hits that first brought these divas to the spotlight. Billboard Magazine honored him as one of the Top Ten Producers of all time.
