Born in England, raised in Singapore, and now, married to an American girl, my roots have spread. My name is Daniel Lim, and while I know not where I will be swept to next, one thing remains certain, life is not meant to be a bore. Having lived on a ship for a couple of years, I began to take an interest in the stories of people around the world. My natural response was to write and sing their stories back to them through the lenses of my eyes. This is my art and my calling. Music, like a drug, began to get a hold of me, allowing me to speak without words to people who wouldn’t hear me otherwise. I couldn’t stop writing. It got to a point where I needed to find a way to remember all the melodies flowing out of me. So I bought a cheap mic when I was 16 and started recording. One of the wonders of digital recording lies in its portability. While many resorted to building home studios, I decided that it would be fun to make the world my studio. It all began in the alps of Italy. With my mic and guitar, I listened to the stories of the people I met. Then, in a little attic room, I wrote, sang, recorded, and collaborated with anyone around me to create an album. Daniel and the Sparrows was born.
