Peace in the Wild

For many of us, turning inward and creating stillness can feel like an elusive goal. These guided practices will help us pay attention to the moment and consequently let go of thought processes that lead to anxiety and stress. Drawing from her research on nature and psychological well-being, Dr. Heidi Schreiber-Pan guides us through six visualization practices that will foster a connection to forests, streams, meadows, and oceans. Visualizing the natural world and quieting the mind can trigger the relaxation response in the brain and create a deep sense of calm. These recordings are an attempt to integrate meditation practice with our deep inner longing to be connected to the natural world. Many research studies have confirmed that connection to nature is related to better physical and mental health. Therefore, each meditation will foster a connection to forests, streams, meadows, or the ocean. Visualizing the natural world and quieting the mind can trigger the relaxation response in the brain and can create a deep sense of calm. Heidi Schreiber-Pan, Ph.D., is a licensed psychotherapist with a Ph.D. in counseling psychology and an affiliate faculty member at Loyola University Maryland. She teaches mindfulness classes through her private practice, Balanced Living counseling. She also offers retreats that integrate positive psychology, spirituality and nature.
