Richard Barone COLLECTION 2: Before & Afterglow (Deluxe Edition) Hot on the heels of his 2010 'Glow' album (Bar/None Records), 'Collection 2' mined Barone's extensive catalogue of past and present tracks, encompassing well-known favorites, covers, and unreleased obscurities. This 'Collection' delved deeper than did 2004's 'An Embarrassment of Richard' by including a track from Richard's first band, Snails, recorded while still living in Tampa, Florida -- before his migration to Hoboken and later New York City. As a special bonus, Collection 2 included the entire 'Richard's Side' song cycle from his legendary duo album with fellow Bongo James Mastro, Nuts & Bolts, originally released in 1983. With many gems along the way, the album opens with Barone's 2011 tribute to the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks with his and collaborator Matthew Billy's rewrite of the 1890's classic "The Sidewalks of New York." This updated, Deluxe Edition adds several new tracks. A timely and timeless Collection indeed. Track listing below. Since pioneering the indie rock scene in Hoboken, NJ as frontman for The Bongos, Barone has produced countless studio recordings and worked with artists in every musical style. Rolling Stone described his first solo album "cool blue halo" as 'chamber rock’, helping give rise to the popular genre. Recent collaborators and cohorts include Lou Reed, Tony Visconti, Beach Boy Al Jardine, Sean Lennon, folk-rock legend Donovan, and American icon Pete Seeger. He scores shows and stages all-star concert events at such world-class venues as Carnegie Hall and the Hollywood Bowl. His memoir Frontman: Surviving The Rock Star Myth was published by Hal Leonard Books. His most recent studio album, Glow (Bar/None), was produced by Visconti. A deluxe CD/DVD set, “'cool blue halo' 25th Anniversary Concert” and the legendary “lost” Bongos album, Phantom Train were released in fall 2013 on JEM Records. Barone lives in Greenwich Village, NYC where he was recently appointed as a Professor at NYU’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music.
