"This is how we know what love is:Jesus Christ laid down his life for us" 1 John 3:16 "I Know What Love is Now" is an Easter musical written by Nashville songwriter John Armstrong. It tells the story of Jesus' last days as told by his friends. Each song is told from the viewpoint of a different character. The apostle John is "Just Another One That Jesus Loved", while the Roman soldier sings "I Didn't Know He Was the Savior". Mary Magdalene sings "I Know What Love is Now". This musical has been performed by churches in the Nashville area almost every year since 1990. It has been presented at churches as well as jails, prisons, homeless shelters and nursing homes. The music is often quiet and introspective and is usually performed before Easter, often on Good Friday. This recording contains the songs from the musical as performed in 2011-12 by the praise band at Providence United Methodist Church in Mount Juliet TN, a suburb of Nashville. The entire musical lasts about one hour and has narration between each song.
