by Scott YanowThis relaxed set matches together the very different tenor tones of Charlie Rouse and Paul Quinichette with a fine rhythm section (Wynton Kelly or Hank Jones on piano, bassist Wendell Marshall and drummer Ed Thigpen). The music includes a few forgotten songs of the era (including "You're Cheating Yourself," "Tender Trap" and Carmen McRae's "Last Time for Love") and has competent if generally polite playing from the tenors. However the boppish music (which contains no real surprises) is enjoyable overall.
