With this second album, Kevin and the Coconuts expands the range of material being covered which is more reflective of our live shows. This includes some classic Trinidadian calypsos written by The Mighty Sparrow, Lord Kitchener, King Radio and Mighty Panther. We also venture into what might possibly be unusual territory for a steel band with such tunes as Route 66 and Mack the Knife. This new recording gives us a chance to highlight the vocal abilities of our drummer, Dan Albrect and our horn player, Steve Paul who is also featured on pans on Como Fue and Spanish Harlem. The personnel of the band is the same since before the first album and that consistency and familiarity has enabled us to expand creatively as group. We really have a lot of fun playing together and we hope that comes through in the music.
