Sonny Boy's music ranges from the jazz/soul of Me'shell Ndgeocello, the funk of Jamiroquai to the more hiphop/funk/R&B song writing style of The Roots. The founder, Sheldon Riser, who is the vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, has produced, composed, arranged and written three full length CDs for the group. Working for bands from the Prince camp as well as artist from the P-Funk circle, Shel became the leading force of the Sonnyboy musical movement. He founded the group in 1993 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where they developed their extensive musical range and became the rave of the underground music scene. They have been touring from the Midwest through the East coast as well as Canada and Europe promoting Sonnyboy through their Label Artform Entertainment.
