Goodbye July
“He's got rhythm. And for someone his age, plenty of soul, too.” –Jesse Hamlin, SF Chronicle “Ingenious” –Doug Ramsey, Riff Tides “Sam Reider has himself on a fast track to success” –Greg Schwartz, J. San Francisco-native Sam Reider is an award-winning pianist, singer, songwriter and accordionist. In 2007, the San Francisco Chronicle wrote, “At 18, he [Reider] plays with the swinging fluidity of a seasoned pro.” Now in his final year at Columbia University in New York, Reider is making a name for himself on the national scene. Following a May 08 release of its first album, Reider’s band Uptown Trio, conducted two national tours, performing at venues such as Jimmy Mak's in Portland, Yoshi's San Francisco and Oakland, Kuumbwa Jazz Center in Santa Cruz, Catalina's in Los Angeles, the Jazz Gallery in NYC, and the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. In addition to his trio work, Reider is an accomplished solo artist. In May 2008, Reider was interviewed on Marian McPartland’s NPR radio show, Piano Jazz. The program, which has showcased artists from Ray Charles, to Oscar Peterson, to Norah Jones, aired in December 2008. With his latest project, Sam Reider and The Lost Boys, Reider brings his talents for composition and lyricism together with an amazing band that includes voice, piano, bass, drums, guitar, accordion, and a horn section. The music is an eclectic mix of original material that bridges the boundaries between Jazz, Folk, and Pop styles. Accordingly, The Lost Boys have had great success performing at many different kinds of venues ranging from New York’s The Bitter End and Cornelia Street Cafe, to a special concert at the San Francisco Giants Stadium and the Fillmore Jazz Festival. Having just completed a 10-day tour of California, The Lost Boys are back in NYC and are busy promoting their new EP, “Goodbye July” (2010).
