On his latest release, “on se lève”, violinist, James Wolf creates rich, complex soundscapes that call to mind musical elements as diverse as classical, noise, ambient, melodic improvisation and composition, yet the music beautifully integrates them all in a way that defies any one genre. James Wolf has been a member of the Washington, D.C. independent music community for 21 years. In that time, he has played violin, guitar and keyboards on recordings and live performances with Air King, Laconic Chamber, La Reproduction Interdite, From Quagmire, The Gena Rowlands Band, The Nitrate Hymnal orchestra, The Picture is Dead, Fern Knight (Philadelphia), The Orchid, Sourdeline (France) and in collaborations with Doug Wolf, Jeff Barsky (Insect Factory) & Chris Videll (Tag Cloud). In early 2013, James began a violin-based solo project and released his first  CD “Oh”, in September 2013. Assembled from several 2015 live performances, his second recording, “on se lève,” will be released on 6, May 2016, on the Washington, D.C. experimental label, Verses Records.
