“I go wherever my music takes me.” --Michaela MICHAELA is a multi-talented, 17-year-old powerhouse who has been singing since she was old enough to hold a microphone. Born in Cambodia and raised in Portland, Maine, the gifted singer, songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist, dancer and actress, is deeply influenced by the music of legendary pop icon Michael Jackson. She also admires and is inspired by Jessie J, Rihanna, The Weeknd, Drake, Bruno Mars, and P!nk. Like these superstar artists, MICHAELA strives to have a long-term career in entertainment. On a daily basis, she can be found in the studio producing songs she has written. MICHAELA also idolizes powerhouse hit-makers Pharrell, Kanye West, and Big Sean. She respects their longevity and hopes to follow in their producing footsteps. MICHAELA has been singing and performing for audiences since she was 3 years old. She began writing and composing songs on the piano at the young age of 6. At 9, MICHAELA wrote and composed the music for Comprehend. The song became a finalist in the 2008 International Songwriting Competition. With over 15,000 entrants from over 100 countries, Comprehend was in the top 15 and received Honorable Mention in the Teen category. At the age of 12, MICHAELA composed, arranged, produced and sang all 15 songs of an audio book, Rhymz for the Nursoulry, a collection of nursery rhymes inspired by the lives of Africans in America. Released in February 2012, the audio book is currently being developed for a Broadway debut. Skillful and versatile, she is also a featured singer on two of Nintendo Wii’s most popular games, Dance Dance Revolution, and was personally chosen by renowned Japanese composer, Yoshitaka Nishimura aka DJ Yoshitaka, to write the song Super Hero to include on Hottest Party 2. At age 7, as a young actress, MICHAELA performed the lead role of Ngana in the award winning musical South Pacific alongside renowned Broadway actor and opera singer, Richard White. She made her television debut as a co-star on Nickelodeon’s iCarly at 9. Internationally acclaimed Millennium Dance Complex in Los Angeles was so impressed with MICHAELA’S natural dance prowess and technique, she was accepted into premiere all adult Hip Hop Classes at the age of 10. Michaela has appeared five times as a featured performer on the main stage at Universal City Walk in Los Angeles. With a heart and compassion for people, MICHAELA understands the importance of community. In the spring of 2005, she spearheaded a movement to have Wave of Relief written. It was a song she recorded and sold with all proceeds going to Save the Children to benefit those affected by the 2004 Asian Tsunami. At age 11, MICHAELA wrote, produced and performed the theme song We Can Stand for the Music Helping Haiti Benefit Concert in Washington D.C. She also performed the song for several Ambassadors at The Organization of American States and at The Japan Relief Benefit Concert in Los Angeles, backed by The Agape Youth Choir. Haitian Ambassador to the United States, Raymond Joseph, invited MICHAELA to perform We Can Stand at the Embassy of Haiti in Washington D.C. Mr. Joseph told Michaela, “You touched me with it. That voice. I kept humming with you.” MICHAELA has done voice-over work for multiple characters on the book and CD for Mattel Toys best-selling American Girl line. Her music has been placed on VH-1’s Love & Hip Hop and she recently became the newest cast member of BET Network’s Single Ladies, where she plays a teenaged ingénue and has written original music for the role. MICHAELA describes her music as Pop with an R&B edge. She is working on her debut album and looking forward to performing her new songs live.
