Music Basket welcomes the return of Placid Larry with a stunning 4 track EP titled Spirits In The Tubes Spirits In The Tubes - This track brings to you a nice solid Hip-Hop vibe. The shaker work is great! The introduction of a harp is a refreshing instrument to hear and not very commonly used. Placid Larry does a great job in utilising this but it is not overplayed. The piano lick is haunting, dark and quickly accompanied by another set of warm keys. The bass line is well thought out and almost has an upright bass sound to it keeping the track sounding rich and organic. Spirits In The Tubes is a serious track that expresses itself to the listener with it is complex arrangement. Enjoy this one. Daydream - Appropriately titled, Daydream is warm, relaxing and overall a joy to listen to. Whether it is coming home from the club in the late hours of the night to unwind or from a long day at work, the stress seems to melt away listening to this track. The piano hook is lovely as it floats in the background whilst the main focus are the lush chords and brilliant drum work to help guide you through. It will make you press the repeat button as soon as it is finished. Pluck - Carting over from Daydream with some of the timbale drums, Pluck introduces the listener to a bit more driving track. The drum work is strong but still has the after hours vibe. The guitars used, electric and acoustic, work well in their call and response melody. Nice work on this one and we are sure you will agree with us. Winters Gone - The uptempo track on this brilliant EP, Winters Gone comes right in at a roaring 124bpm. Yes, we think you could use this intelligently on the dance floor. Why not? Winters Gone introduces you to some super solid drum work. There is a lot going on and it is great! Muted piano brings the warmth to this track as well as a crisp open piano. It is used just enough that you cannot help but want it to come back in for more. A nice bubble bass is used to bring in the lows as it bounces effortlessly in the background. You can almost hear winter trying to come back with the cold synth Placid Larry uses as it is pops in and out from time to time. Winters Gone is a solid uptempo track to round out this EP.
