Despite many outside pressures, boycotts from Apartheid governments as well as the ANC, the group has survived and is still alive and kicking. All sounds are acoustic, there are no electronics here, and this continued approach is at the core of Amampondo's musical message: to deliver traditional African music drawn from their Xhosa background and other African regions. As it is both a compilation of successful older tracks and new material, this album offers a good starting point in getting to know one of the veteran groups of the Cape Town music scene.
