The US-American Maria Schneider belongs to the world's renowned big-band leaders, arrangers and composers. She has won multiple Grammy Awards. On May 14th 2000, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Kurt Weill’s birth and the 50th commemoration of his death, she designed and directed a jazz matinee with the SWR Big Band in Stuttgart, dedicated to the master composer of Dassau. This is the re-release of the live recording of that matinee, which contained amogn original works, pieces by Kurt Weill as well as other big-band classics.
