To anyone who isn't devoted to Marc Bolan, Unchained, Vol. 2 will sound virtually identical to its predecessor, and it is true that it shares all of the hallmarks of Vol. 1 ? namely, it's an endless series of demos, undeveloped ideas and jams, with just a handful of completed songs thrown in for good measure. Stylistically, there isn't much difference between these unreleased songs and demos and what actually made it on the albums, in this case The Slider, Tanx and Zinc Alloy ? it's a familiar series of bloozy, sleazy boogie and spaced-out folk-rock. Dedicated fans may find something to tresure in particular guitar solos, tossed-off lyrics and musical fragments that later became full-fledged songs, but even most T. Rex fans will find that this stuff sort of blends together about five songs into the disc.
