The early recordings of the piano autodidact feature adventurous use of found sounds and tape loops. Shadowplay is a very mature and sophisticated opus, building on two decades of research and development. As the name implies, these recordings feature a haunting soundtrack to the gathering gloom of dusk. Carefully, even tentatively delivered, these human, Eno-esque pieces display a profound loneliness in mood. Story recalls classical minimalists like Arvo Pärt, jazz composers of the spaces between the notes like Miles Davis, and impressionistic post-rock composers like Robert Wyatt.
