Virsaladze is a specialist in Romantic music, which she plays extremely well. Her version of the Chopin Sonata is one of the best performances of the piece, doing justice to every aspect of the music, including a real thriller of a finale. The remaining Chopin selection covers his entire range from the relaxed lyricism of the Nocturne to the intense drama of the Ballade and Polonaise, all vividly realized in these performances.
