Frederick Fennell
芬内尔（Frederick Fennell）生于1914年7月2日俄亥俄州克里夫兰，死于2004年12月7日佛罗里达州Siesta Key，是一位国际级的指挥家，并且是建立管乐团为演奏团队的先驱。他对美国本土及海外的乐团教学以及音乐教育有着深厚的影响。 芬内尔在7岁时选择打击乐器为他的第一样乐器，在称作Camp Zeke家族营队的鼓号乐队中担任鼓手。他在10岁时拥有自己的第一套爵士鼓。在John Adams High School Orchestra，芬内尔演奏定音鼓并担任指挥。 他在Interlochen Arts Camp（后来改为National Music Camp）里学习，在1931年被国立高中里有名的乐团指导Albert Austin Harding选择担任大鼓演奏。这个乐团在7月26日被约翰·菲利普·苏沙所指挥，并且首演山苏沙的Northern Pines进行曲。芬内尔在17岁时开始于Interlochen指挥。 芬内尔在伊士曼音乐院有一件相当重要的创举。学生时代，他为罗彻斯特大学的橄榄球队组职了一只乐旗队，并且在橄榄球赛非球季时举办室内音乐会长达10年。在伊士曼音乐院，他先后完成了学士以及硕士学位（分别在1937年与1939年）取得。芬内尔成为了第一位以打击乐器演奏的得奖者。1938年他拿到奖学金让他可以可以在Mozarteum Salzburg学习。这让他可以上到福特万格勒的课程。1942年芬内尔在TanglewoodBerkshire Music Center随Serge Koussevitzky学习指挥（当时的同学有伯恩斯坦、Lukas Foss、以及Walter Hendl 1948年他被中心指定为Koussevitzky的助理。第二次世界大战期间，芬内尔在联合服务组织的National Musical Advisor就职。
