Local Hero is a young indie pop band from Berkeley, California. They released their first record – The Aldgate EP – in September 2011 to critical acclaim from prominent music publications including American Songwriter, Earmilk and The Music Ninja. The Aldgate EP received radio airplay in Los Angeles, Berkeley, Minneapolis, Seattle and San Diego, and SF Rebirth named it the 5th best Bay Area album of 2011. Every member of the band is under the age of twenty.Encouraged by the positive reaction the EP garnered from local and international press, the group disappeared into the studio in early 2012 to record their first full-length album – From Timid to Timbuktu. After six months at San Francisco’s Telephone Recording (owned by SF indie fixture John Vanderslice), From Timid to Timbuktu has become a reality.Frequently drawing comparisons to Arctic Monkeys, Vampire Weekend and The Strokes, the album is bright and lively, while maintaining the lo-fi aesthetic that made their debut so popular. Many bloggers viewed The Aldgate EP as a sunny, jaunty summer record.
