Jen Cloher
Jen Cloher is an Australian singer-songwriter who records with her band as Jen Cloher and the Endless Sea. Cloher was born an only child and grew up in Adelaide.[1] She attended Sydneys National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) and started playing the guitar at age 21.[1] Her band, the Endless Sea, is made up of Jen Sholakis on drums, Geoffrey Dunbar on bass, Andrea Sumner on violin, Ross Calia on piano and Michael Hubbard on guitar.[2] With the Endless Sea, Cloher released a 2005 EP, Permanent Marker.[1] This was followed by a 2006 album Dead Wood Falls. Cloher was nominated for the award for Best Female Artist at the 2006 ARIA Music Awards which was ultimately won by Clare Bowditch.[3] Her second album Hidden Hands was released in July 2009 and was inspired by Clohers relationship with her parents and her mothers diagnosis with Alzheimers disease.
