Shaka Ponk (sometimes abbreviated as SHKPNK) is French crossover-band, residing in Berlin, Germany since 2004. The band uses elements of different styles, such as rock, funk and hip-hop in their music, with lyrics being written mostly in a mixture of English, French and Spanish languages. The band members left their native France in 2004, and moved to Germany, as by strict quota policy of broadcasting songs with non-French lyrics of French radiostations their success would be very limited.But the band was able to achieve a fame in Germany, and they did, though mainly through numerous live performances. They made several appearances on stage with such bands as Mudvayne, Exilia and The BossHoss. In July 2005 the band signed a contract with Edel AG, a German record label.
